Job Description:  Responsible for educating the professional community referral sources about hospice and palliative care services, access to hospice care and delivery of end of life care. S/he is expert in appropriateness of services, educates on a one-to-one and group basis and provides necessary feedback to referral sources as indicated.

Develop long term business relationships resulting in an increased number of admissions accessing hospice and palliative care.

Duties:

• Cultivate, develop and enhance care relationships with hospitals, physicians, nursing homes, ALF's and other referral sources.
• Cooperate with Admission department to identify issues related to increasing timely access to care.
• Develop communication system with Clinical Services to identify delivery failures and response system.
• Actively participate in organizational committees, which enhance the working relationships between departments within organization.*
• Maintain membership in related health care professional organizations for the purpose of networking.
• Develop an educational plan for implementation in the professional referral community, in conjunction with the Director of Professional Relations.
• Coordinate and assist with the development and revision of educational tools for the health care community.
• Identify opportunities for inservices in the health care community and coordinate their implementation with appropriate professional contacts.
• Provide formal and informal education opportunities with physicians, physician office staff, hospital social workers/discharge planners and third party payers.
• Communicate health care issues to clinical staff to enhance service delivery.


Qualifications:

• M.A. or B.A. preferred, in Health Care Services related field, or RN
• Minimum 2 years marketing, professional relations and/or education experience in Health Care Services related field.
• Excellent communications skills, including public speaking experience
• Must be willing to travel throughout the county
• Valid Florida drivers' license and auto insurance as per Company policy
• Ability to work unsupervised, exercising a high degree of discretion and independent judgment

*Must have a proven successful track record with outside sales, preferrably in a healthcare setting.
*Good computer skills; especially in Word and Excel
*Must have flexibility with schedule as evening and weekend hours will be required for professional relations events.
