The Human Resources Manager works collaboratively with the Administrator, Director of Nursing, Department Heads and Regional Human Resources Manager/Director to develop a work environment that positions Genesis as “the employer of choice” and endeavors to create a work culture committed to the Mission, Vision, Core Beliefs and Values of the organization. Success is measured in terms of employee satisfaction, development, retention, and achievement of the Company established excellence goals and key performance indicators as reflected on the Corporate Scorecard. The Human Resources Manager will guide the Center Talent Acquisition process – attract, screen, interview, select, certify and welcome, as well as the Talent Management process – set expectations, coach, recognize, develop, evaluate and reward. The Human Resources Manager fairly and consistently enforces Genesis Human Resources policies and procedures, pay practices and collective bargaining agreements if applicable. The Human Resources Manager indirectly reports to Regional Manager/Director, Human Resources to accomplish Staff Excellence goals. The indirect relationship includes but is not limited: o Clarification of roles and responsibilities; o Advice and direction relating to center performance improvement; o Development and coaching in employee relations skills; o Guidance through monthly meetings to achieve established goals and to initiate activities which will drive results. RESPONSIBILITIES/ACCOUNTABILITIES: 1. Demonstrate the highest level of integrity and confidentiality. Personal employee information including but not limited to medical, pay, demographic, discipline, schedule preferences, accommodation requests, family matters, must be maintained in the strictest confidence. Company confidential information must also be protected. 2. Maintain current working knowledge of Company policies and procedures, pay practices, employee benefits, employment laws (i.e. ADA, FMLA, FLSA) and communicate regularly with employees to promote understanding and utilization. 3. Coordinate center applicant flow processes from sourcing through selection. Coordinate all center hiring needs with recruiting. Conduct initial interview of job applicants. Complete reference checks, criminal background checks and ensure that applicant drug tests and physicals are completed along with all other necessary pre-employment paperwork. 4. Create and maintain the personnel files (manual and electronic, GenSERV) according to policy and legal standards. 5. Create and maintain files/records as required for Employee Benefit Accruals, Service Date Adjustments, OSHA, Workers’ Compensation, Unemployment Claims, and Employee Health/Medical Records (i.e. Drug Testing, CPR, Hep B, PPD, Physicals, FMLA). 6. Manage and participate in bi-weekly Welcoming Program. Establish and monitor Performance Evaluation Schedule for the first 90 days. Ensure all new employees are trained in time clock practices and create employee badge. 7. Conduct Basic Computer Training (equipment, login, keyboarding, system navigation) for all new employees. Provide additional support to employees to ease transition to automated work environment. Effectively transition employee to Department Head to manage the first 90 days of employment. 8. Administer the Benefits and Compensation programs at the center. Ensure all information is disseminated, collected and processed according to deadlines. Provide competitive wage information to Regional HR Manager. 9. Create and maintain current (manual and electronic) licensure, certification and education records. 10. Investigate causes of employee disputes and grievances and recommend corrective action. 11. Fairly and consistently enforce Genesis policies and procedures. 12. Counsel managers and supervisors pro-actively in effective performance management techniques to improve employee retention and productivity. 13. Direct employees to appropriate resources in response to employee needs and/or requests, e.g. Genesis Employee Foundation, EAP, The Work Number (for Income/Wage Verifications), Benefits Department (for LOA, FMLA), Employee Self-Service (to update personal information), etc. 14. Coordinate Center programs, e.g. Safety, Workers’ Compensation, Employee Recognition, Employee Communications (Corporate - Big Blue Board, Corporate Integrity, other, government mandated and center-related), and Special Events. 15. Support Corporate change initiatives/projects at the Center level. 16. May represent the center at unemployment hearings and workers’ compensation hearings. 17. Act as Back-Up to Center Scheduling Manager. 18. Participate in Center Manager on Duty Program based on center protocol. Qualifications: SPECIFIC EDUCATIONAL/VOCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS: • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources and/or SPHR/PHR preferred. • 3-5 years previous work experience in Human Resources with proven track record. • Prior experience in healthcare or LTC setting preferred. • Experience using computer to support work activities. • Works flexible hours in order to meet with employees who work 24/7; ensures those working evening and night shifts stay connected. • Willing to travel as necessary. |
