Our History: Founded in 1985 with three associates, WellCare grew to more than 800 associates and 467,000 members in Florida, New York and Connecticut by 2002. By 2006, WellCare served 2.2 million members as it became a national prescription drug plan provider and the largest Medicaid plan in Georgia. Oversees all regional internal and external communications and provides communications counsel to the Vice President of Corporate Communications and other key stakeholders. Drives and manages consistent messaging and communications to employees as well as regional media and community agencies. Collaborates with marketing to ensure the consistency of internal and external communications with customer communication.

 

Essential Functions:


  • Aids Vice President of Corporate Communications in the development of media strategy and messaging company-wide, via press releases, media statements and responses, corporate presentations, talking points, executive speeches and more.

  • Works closely with associates and leadership across the company to develop and reinforce the company's ability to anticipate and respond to a crisis.

  • Serves as primary company spokesperson to the media

  • Tracks and analyzes media coverage to measure ongoing media relations success.

  • Serves as a communications adviser and strategist to regional executives in support of company goals and strategies. Oversees the corporate reputation and image, issues management and the promotion of the company in regional markets. Manages regional media managers who develop and implement regional messaging for internal and external audiences.

  • Sets strategic direction and works with the entire Corporate Communications team to ensure the delivery of coordinated, accurate, consistent and effective messages to associates in all areas and geographic regions. 

  • Oversees all corporate-level internal communications initiatives.

  • Builds and fosters collaborative relationships with other departments to stay informed of new initiatives and services.

  • Identifies opportunities to support company initiatives and develop communications materials and programs to promote and publicize these activities. 


Education:  Bachelor's Degree in Communications, Public Relations or related field required. A Master's Degree preferred.  

 

Experience:  10 years experience working on corporate communications with 5 years in leadership role.  Knowledge of and experience with health care preferred.  Experience with publicly held companies preferred.

 

Licenses/Certifications:                            

 

Special Skills (e.g. 2nd language): 

Must have knowledge of AP Stylebook guidelines.

Superior writing and editing skills.
