  • The Executive Director (ED), Patient Care Services, Inpatient Services & Integrative Palliative Care has primary responsibility for overall clinical operations of the Inpatient Care Center, Glenbrook Care Center and Integrative Palliative Care Program, including developing and implementing strategies to support the values, mission and goals of SDHIPM. The ED applies systems theory, research, performance improvement and behavioral sciences to ensure excellence in patient/family care. Is accountable for fiscal and regulatory compliance.   Participates in the development and execution of the strategic plan for growth and program development.

     

    Duties and Responsibilities:

     

    ·          Responsible for strategic planning in conjunction with CCO and other Executive Directors.   Accountable for implementation and evaluation of business plans, organizational initiatives, projects and practices related to hospice and inpatient programs and integrative therapies. Provides coaching, mentoring, and evaluation of managers to achieve effective leadership and growth of each department/team.

    ·          Responsible for administrative oversight of the inpatient programs and integrative therapies. Plans, organizes, supervises and evaluates workloads of managers ensuring quality service for SDHIPM’s patients and families, referral sources and business partners. Assures environment of continuous learning.   Oversees proper orientation of new employees and contracted members of interdisciplinary teams.   Provides education as requested.

    ·          Manages departmental budgets to reach organization’s annual goals and productivity standards. Follows budgetary guidelines established by the CCO/COO/CFO and submits annual operating and capital budgets for approval.

    ·          Establishes effective relationships with management colleagues and staff.   Facilitates teamwork and affects improvements to the culture of the agency. Leads and participates in various organizational meetings and task forces.   Commits to timely and effective communication.

    ·          Serves as a SDHIPM spokesperson as requested. Fosters positive relations with all customers and vendors. Participates in Development/Foundation strategies and planning to meet needs of the community. Attends outside training seminars and participates in community activities to keep abreast of current trends in palliative care and clinical management.

    ·          Participates in monitoring key quality and performance indicators, identifying opportunities for improvement and implementing improvements. Leads performance improvement projects as identified by QAPI Council. Remains cognizant of current trends and best practices in the field of palliative and acute care to ensure the delivery of the highest quality of care.

     

    Education: Master’s degree in health care administration or related field highly preferred; equivalent combination of education and experience may be acceptable.   Degree and license as a registered nurse in the State of California required.

     

    Experience: Requires a minimum of 5 years experience in patient care management or health care administration, with at least 3 years in progressively complex supervisory/ administrative capacity. Requires strong organizational and problem solving skills, strong communication skills (verbal and written), interpersonal and teambuilding skills and understanding of the dynamics of interdisciplinary teams. Requires thorough knowledge of hospice, palliative care and acute care delivery systems, federal and state regulations and safety codes.   Knowledge of standard PC office products required. Current California Driver’s license and automobile insurance required
